Terms & Conditions
These terms set out the general rules for using our website and the basic terms that may apply when you request a quotation or engage Handyman by Gebs for property work.
1. About These Terms
These Terms & Conditions govern use of the Handyman by Gebs website and set out general terms that may apply to enquiries, quotations and services. A written quotation, scope of work or other project-specific agreement may contain additional or different terms. If there is a conflict, the project-specific written agreement will apply to that project.
2. Website Use
You may use this website for lawful purposes and to obtain information about our services or contact us. You may not attempt to interfere with the website, gain unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, misuse forms, copy protected content unlawfully or use the website in a way that infringes another person's rights.
3. Service Enquiries and Quotations
Information supplied on the website is general. A website enquiry does not by itself create a binding service agreement. A quotation is based on the information available at the time, including measurements, photographs, site conditions and the requested scope.
Any validity period, deposit requirement, payment schedule, exclusions, assumptions, material choices or special conditions will be stated in the quotation or agreed in writing.
4. Site Inspection and Hidden Conditions
Some work can only be assessed accurately after inspection or once existing structures, finishes, services or materials are opened or removed. Hidden defects, structural issues, water damage, unsuitable substrates, inaccessible services or other unforeseen conditions may affect the scope, timing and price.
5. Changes to the Scope
If you request additional work, different materials, altered dimensions or other changes after a quote has been accepted, the change may require a revised price and additional time. Where practical, material changes will be agreed before the extra work proceeds.
6. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for providing accurate information, safe and reasonable site access, access to electricity or water where agreed and reasonably required, and informing us of known hazards, hidden services, building restrictions, body corporate rules, estate rules or other site conditions that may affect the work.
7. Materials and Availability
Products, finishes, colours and materials may vary slightly from samples or photographs and may be affected by supplier availability. Where a specified item is unavailable, an alternative will only be used after reasonable discussion where the change is material.
8. Timelines and Delays
Any completion date or time estimate is given in good faith but may be affected by weather, supplier delays, site access, additional work, hidden conditions, power or water interruptions, third-party contractors or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
9. Regulated or Specialist Work
Where work requires approvals, certificates, professional designs or appropriately qualified or registered specialists under applicable law, those requirements must be addressed before or as part of the relevant work. Unless expressly included in writing, specialist professional services and statutory approvals are not automatically included in a general handyman quotation.
10. Payment
Payment terms will be stated on the applicable quotation, invoice or written agreement. Amounts due must be paid according to those agreed terms. Clients should retain proof of payment.
11. Cancellations and Postponements
If a booking must be cancelled or postponed, please notify us as early as possible. Any cancellation charge, treatment of deposits or cost of specially ordered materials will depend on the circumstances, work already performed, costs already incurred and the terms agreed for the project, subject to applicable law.
12. Workmanship and Defects
If you believe completed work has a workmanship issue, please contact us within a reasonable time and give us an opportunity to inspect the concern. Normal wear and tear, misuse, third-party alterations, pre-existing defects, movement, weather damage, manufacturer defects or conditions outside the agreed scope may not be attributable to our workmanship.
13. Limitation of Website Information
Photos, descriptions and examples on this website are provided to show the general nature of services and previous work. They do not guarantee that every project, material or result will be identical.
14. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, website text, layout, branding, graphics and original project content belong to Handyman by Gebs or are used with permission. They may not be reproduced for commercial use without permission.
15. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, Handyman by Gebs is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising solely from use of this website or from circumstances outside the agreed service scope and our reasonable control.
16. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute should first be addressed in good faith between the parties before other available remedies are pursued.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these website Terms & Conditions from time to time. The effective date shown at the top identifies the current website version.
